In The Biz:

There is no denying that the music industry spells glitz and glamour....but it goes hand and hand with stress: mental, emotional and most of all, physical. Thus, as you try your very best to achieve your full potential as a performing artist, you must not allow your health to take a back seat. Cliche as it may sound, but the saying "Health is wealth" remains true even for rockstars.

A talent management company is the boat in which talented music artists, actors, and performers sail and reach their destination. Its primary job is to provide enough exposure to the artists; but the problem is - not every other artist is lucky enough to be recruited by these entertainment agencies. There are several factors they consider before/while selecting a music artist and promoting their skills.

Can you keep perfect time with a metronome or play 3/4 over 4/4? If you cannot keep time with a metronome, how can you expect to keep time with a band and be a “groove master”? When you hear a melody, can you play it immediately back on your instrument? When you bend a note, is it completely in tune throughout the entire bend?

One method to expand your audience is to serve as a support act for a known headliner on multiple tour dates or to open a single show for a larger act. These are choice slots and many bands are vying for them. Sometimes you can get lucky and be at the right place and the right time. If you are more interested in process rather than chance, here are three methods to follow that may land you these choice support performance slots.

There is a lot of dedication that drives a successful band and a whole lot more promotion to make it anywhere if your just starting up.
