Young Star On The rise
Melinda
first decided she wanted to become a singer at the age of
three. She was watching the band Nsync perform on TV and
remembers turning to her parents saying, “I can do
that!” I've
always loved music. As a child, she would always run around
everywhere singing and dancing. She joined chorus around
the age of 10 and continued it into her high school years.
Melinda was exposed to all kinds of music in those years,
such as Opera, Musical Theatre, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Country,
etc. She can literally sing 90% of genres thrown at her.
She has been influenced by music from a diversity of artists
such as Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga, Miranda
Lambert and Carrie Underwood. After her Sophomore year in
high school, she then chose to become home schooled to better
focus on her music career. After searching resources for
hours on the internet she stumbled across her now manager,
Fonda Cash, for vocal lessons.
When she first sang for Fonda,
the seasoned coach loved Melinda's voice and told her she
really didn't need vocal lessons. Soon after this initial
meeting Fonda and her management company decided to take
Melinda on as one of their artists. Melinda believes she
has the talent and drive needed to make it somewhere, but
honestly does not think she would be where she is today without
Fonda's knowledge and guidance. With this development Melinda
has been able to bring out what was on the inside and what
she truly wanted to be for entire life into reality. She
is currently writing and recording original music with Fonda
Cash and Marc Karmatz of Insane Sounds Studio in Lauderhill,
FL. as well as performing at live venues throughout South
Florida with her duo partner Todd Deason. |

Melinda currently is working on having multiple
songs in the process of being released. Believe it or not, most
of her song writing ideas come to her at around 4 am! Melinda says
"They seem to just pop into my head from being sleep deprived
(lol). I usually co-write with a few different guitar players.
I write the lyrics and melody and they write the music to my melody." Her
latest song is “Movin’ On” co-written by Melinda
and Todd Deason. It was produced by Fonda Cash and recorded, mixed
and mastered by Marc Karmatz of Insane Sounds Studio. Basically,
the song is about an ex boyfriend of two years, who broke up with
her through text while she was on vacation in North Carolina.
The song is a message to him saying that at the time she couldn’t
live without him, but all he did was hold her down so it was time
for moving on. It’s a song many people can relate to since
there are so many people who have had their hearts broken, but
then realized they were better off without the ones who hurt them.
Melinda has had had numerous people tell her how much the song
moved and touched them, which makes her very proud and ecstatic
over having touched someone with her music!

One thing about
me that may come as a surprise is, that Melinda loves to
joke around a lot! Upon a first meeting she willI appear
to be a bit timid and reserved. But once she gets a little
more comfortable with whomever she's around, she becomes
more easy going, sometimes silly and even enjoys playing
a few pranks on people! Another thing that might surprise
you about her is that in adddition to music she has have
strong interests in Interior Design, Graphic Design, and
Acting. "As
a child, other than being an artist, I saw myself pursuing
a career in acting. Which I would still love to do, in the
near future!"
As a young artist Melinda is quickly finding
that she just loves being on stage and entertaining an audience!
She really feels and enjoys the energy and the excitement
that comes with the performances and being able to meet and
interact with her fans. The fans are what keep her going
and make her love what she does in performing for them.
She also comments, "The
only thing I sometimes hate about my career is, not being
able spend as much time as I’d like with my friends
and family."
Melinda observes some of what she has seen
on the business side and If she could make a major change
in the business it would be to create unity between the artists
and their fans. She believes that the artist’s success
stems from their fans. "The Internet has allowed artists
to unite and support each other more. On the negative side,
there's always the chance that an artist's music will be
illegally downloaded, which really isn't fair to artists.
Artists work hard for their success. People really don't
see all the work and time that goes into their career. Having
their music stolen from them after all they put into it is
just wrong." She thinks the business side and artists
can work better together by keeping the lines of communication
open and sharing their ideas to come to a better agreement
on things. As business and music continues to
grow together, this will ultimately make a smoother path
for future artists like herself. |
At press time Melinda has a few really cool
things in the works that due to contractual agreements can't be
discussed. But hopefully we will be seeing a lot more of this young
artist in the future and she will continue to grow and bring great
music to her fans foe many years to come.
