The Kinected is an original four piece group who's sound is
somewhat of a hybrid. They blend pop, funk, and rock with an
electro edge. The music features well-crafted songwriting sensibility
with intelligent, relatable lyrics. The songs contain several
hooks, both rhythmic and melodic, that seamlessly groove together
to form this unique sound.
The four band members
have known each other as a whole for roughly three and
a half years, however Michael and Ron are brothers so they
have known each other for quite some time. The two met
Alex through a cousin and have had a musical relationship
with him for some time as well. After they met their drummer
Marck about three and a half years ago, they had all the
pieces to create what is The Kinected, and have been a
band since roughly around January of 2011. The beauty of
The Kinected is that they all have a similar vision artistically
which they have learned is very difficult to find. Because
they are often on the same page, there seems to be a cohesive
energy as a unit they emit, especially live which they
believe that is so important.
In the past they had worked
with other artists and singers, and that was the fundamental
piece that was missing, however with the creation of The
Kinected they finally have that camaraderie and it has
brought them to this point. Some of the band's influences
include, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie,
Stevie Wonder, Elton John, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The
Police, U2, Brandon Flowers and The Killers, The Cars,
Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, The Cure, and the list goes
on and on and on. |

Alex Zapatier and Ron Anthony's vocal sound is smooth, yet highly
energetic and delivered with much conviction. Alex also delivers
catchy, syncopated guitar rhythms and melodic lines thus embedding
his own personal stamp to each song. His solos reflect emotional
expressions and influences of Jimmy Page, Slash, Hendrix, and
The Edge. Alex says, "Every song has a distinct color, mood,
and identity. Our music must have a purpose, create a visual,
evoke positive emotion, and hypnotize physically as well as mentally."
Ron's atmospheric keyboards set the tone
while his piano lines aim for the heart. His signature synthbass
often mirrors the bass guitar, defining the groove and engraving
it in your mind. Ron states, "I want to connect with people
the way Stevie Wonder has with me." Mike B's bass lines
are infectious and memorable. He states, "I'd
like to hear our music played in the first club on Mars."Marck
Mangel holds down and sets the tone with his drumming style and
attitude. He adds, "Our thoughts
and emotions are channeled through waves of sound that are
designed to flow through the body with a pulse that makes you
want to dance, grind, and fist pump." The band
has joined forces with Taylor Rablow Photography and his Videography
Team, and are in the process of shooting a music video for
their debut single "Hypnotize" which is the
first track off their first album, "Evolution #9."
The Kinected have a lot of exciting things
planned. They are in the process of planning a tour hopefully
for the fall to support the release of "Evolution
#9." with a lot of great things happening with the
album. They just had a live performance on nationally televised
morning show, The Daily Buzz, and just got word that "Hypnotize" is
now on regular rotation on Sirius XM channel 3, 20 on 20. The
song is currently charting at #134 on Media base top 40 and also
at #17 on the Indie Charts. With that, a lot of other opportunities
have come their way. Look for them in the upcoming movie, "Exposure" a
national theatrical release and "Hypnotize" is going
to be featured in the movie. "Hypnotize" is also currently
#1 on iHeart Radio's Discover and Uncover and has been for 8
weeks straight! Because
of the success with iHeart Radio, you can also find them as
a featured artist on Z100 . With all of this going on, the band
has just launched a radio awareness campaign and are starting
to get spins on FM stations across the country as well. So, it's
no surprise that they are very excited to see what happens
with the band in the near future with all of these great things
going on.
Evolution #9

Ron goes on to share his
songwriting process with us as this, "We created "Evolution
#9" in my home studio H.A.A.R.P. Studios and it was a great
experience. Quite often a song is brought to
the table with perhaps a guitar lick, or vocal melody and
we often expand upon that. Sometimes the entire song
is completed and brought to the table. A lot of the
songs on our debut album were songs that were written by
mainly Alex and some myself prior to the 4 of us coming
together. We decided to lay those down first and
get those out there with the production we had in mind
and since then, we have been writing from more of a blank
canvas. I look forward to seeing what comes together starting
from there; to rehearsals where we just throw ideas at
each other and see where it goes. "
As an artist, Ron believes the business
end of music is like kryptonite. And many of us are not
programmed to handle that side. Ron has been fortunate
enough to have had some opportunities working at labels
and understands the way of that side of his career. With
that said, he feels the best experience in the business
so far has been partnering up with his P.R. firm, New Ocean
Media. "They are a GREAT group of people and they
have helped us so so much in the little time we have been
working together."
Throughout their music careers, many people have come and
gone. Unfortunately they have had to learn that the business
is a lot of smoke and mirrors and it is very difficult
to trust anyone and their word. For Ron that has been the
most unfortunate aspect of the business personally. "I
do this first and foremost because it is my calling and
I love it. Nobody is going to get in the way of that or
take that away from me."

Ron tells us he would like to see huge
corporations that control radio go away. That is why he loves
Pandora so much and XM Satellite. These platforms give you
so many opportunities as a listener to discover new bands and
artists. It is so difficult to do that on FM radio because
it is controlled way too much. It makes it so difficult for
a band like The Kinected to be heard. That is why utilizing
the net, youtube, facebook, twitter, and other social networking
sites is so important.
There are positives and negatives to the internet.
The positive is having an outlet as artists to reach EVERYONE!
It gives musicians the ability to post anything from anywhere
and communicate with people and fans like never before. Of course
the downside to the internet is that artists and labels used
to make a chunk of their income from record sales, but with people
purchasing singles, that is a different ball game. The large
majority of people don't even buy singles anymore. There are
so many ways to get music for free now. In today's day, you need
to tour and be a great live band to make a good living.
Ron puts it like this; "
If everyone came together and threw politics and greed out of
the equation, a lot more would get accomplished. We can't allow
art to become more political than it already has become. I'm
dreading the day that presidential candidates drop albums right
before election time. I wonder what Mit Romney and Barack Obama
would title their albums? "Politician Musician?" It
is pretty incredible to have a passion for something and be able
to pursue it for a living.
