Kimmy and
Kelsie Baron (aka The Baron Sisters) are a sibling duo
from South Florida that have mastered the ability to
create the organic sound of innocence and youth through
the eyes of old souls. They come from a pretty big family,
being two of nine kids, but the girls have been singing
together ever since they can remember.
With a natural talent for
writing catchy melodies, and the ability to engage their
audiences with honest, relatable songs, this charming
duo delivers sincere songs with distinctive instrumentation
and remarkable harmonies. Kimmy started singing years
before Kelsie picked up the guitar and then one day they
decided to start playing and singing together, writing
songs and playing shows. They both have always been inspired
by watching musicians on award shows and concerts and
always dreamed of one day being in the same place as
them. So it wasn't long before a hobby soon turned into
more.
The Baron Sisters' unique sound and quirky songs got
the attention of the Unison Music label (The White Buffalo,
Babybird, The Tricks) in Los Angeles. Having just completed
recording their debut LP with Grammy-nominated producers
Bruce Witkin and Ryan Dorn the girls are now preparing
to bring their live music to their fans, where ever they
are, old and new. |
|
Right now they are in the process of writing
more songs, playing more shows, and getting ready for their
First Album to be released this May. They have have proudly
just been selected to come back to perform at the Florida Music
Festival again this year in Orlando this April and they are
very excited and proud to be a part of this exciting event
showcasing so much Florida talent!
always get songs out of it
With songwriting, they find that
they often get very inspired by what's happening in their daily
lives. Even if it's something negative. Whatever is happening
in their lives, they always get songs out of it. The recording
process with their label Unison Music proved to be a really
great experience. The girls and the producers all had the same
idea of the instrumentation and flow of the songs. During the
recording process they feel like each song took on its own
personality which is something that they truly love.
They never really wanted to be anything else. They are doing
what they have always wanted to do, and are so thankful
everyday just to have a shot at the dream. It is the ultimate
experience to love that they are free to write and play anything
they want and create their own unique style.

Considering
they are still young, still learning and growing as artists,
they are just very thankful to have experienced what
they have already. So right now they are very happy to
be doing what they love. Having just signed to Unison
Music just this last year, they are very excited for
what's to come! The story of Unison
Music (based in Los Angeles) is also unique with
strong ties to South Florida. Expect to hear more about
this artist friendly label here in months to come.
Both Kimmy and Kelsie would like to see
radio get back to the way it used to be. "If the
stations believed in the artists or fans requested it,
it was played. Now labels have to pay huge amounts of
money to get an artist a sufficient amount of radio play.
With the Internet, the positive side is that you can
reach out to anyone in the world and give them a chance
to hear your music. The downside is, with today's technology,
music is downloaded more than physically bought. Which
can have a negative effect eventually on the artist."
But they do see the business side of things moving to
a new generation that's combined with the new and old.
What we are seeing now are more people buying vinyl records
again, which the girls are huge fans of. |
They listen
to their vinyl records all the time and see it making
a comeback which they are very happy to see. It would
be fantastic to see the business side and artistic side
of the industry working better together by maybe having
more common ground. The business side is focused mostly
on sales, where as the artist is more focused on the
creative aspects of music. Both sides having extremely
important goals. It can be hard not to face a few problems
if everybody isn't on the same page.
Getting to record
their own songs in the studio, and getting a great response
from it has been terrific. They have to say what great feeling it is to know
that their music is enjoyed by other people. And they love getting to meet amazing
musicians and new people every show they play.
Witness the arrival of the Baron Sisters as
they set out on tour in support of their upcoming limited edition
EPs, leading up to the official release of their full length
LP in 2012, which will include songs from the EPs as well as
additional, unreleased material. The debut CD
will be released in May and they will be doing many more shows.
